Department of Primary and Pre-School Education

The elemental task of the Department of Primary and Pre-School Education is to form theoretically well-prepared teachers. The training takes place on two levels:

• Level I, Bachelor - Pre-School Teachers’ Training prepares future professionals to possess skills, competences and theoretically based knowledge of pedagogy in order to complete the tasks of pre-school education. Candidates gain Bc title and the qualification enables them to continue their studies in the second training cycle.

• Level II, Master's degree - the two-year study period prepares students for the teacher's pedagogical practice in lower grades of primary school and provides a masters teaching degree with the title Mgr.

Our students gain competences in vocational-subjects such as pedagogy, psychology and art as well as methodology in connection with Pre-School subjects. During their studies they will also obtain general knowledge and professional practical training, which takes place in training institutions – nurseries and primary schools - that maintain close connection and cooperation with the university.

Students have the opportunity to participate in various symposiums, scientific student conferencies, part-time trainings in either within the Erasmus framework or in other scholarship programmes at foreign universities which enables them to learn about new, innovative methods and educational strategies during their studies.
