20th KODÁLY DAYS – GALÁNTA

The 20th anniversary edition of the Kodály Days took place in Galanta from May 29 to 31, 2026. The event serves as the triennial National Qualifying Competition for Hungarian Adult Choirs in Slovakia. This year twelve choirs participated in the competition, demonstrating their artistic excellence and dedication to choral music before a seven-member professional jury and an appreciative audience. At this prestigious event, the J. Selye University Women’s Choir, Cantus Iuventus was awarded a ‘Gold Ribbon’ in recognition of its outstanding artistic performance.

The jury also presented a special award to the choir’s conductor, Yvette Orsovics, for her exceptional conducting achievements. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all choir members for their perseverance, commitment, and excellent representation of the university. Special thanks go to Ágota Csehi for her valuable piano accompaniment and dedicated work as a répétiteur, as well as to Anita Tóth-Bakos and music educator Éva Fekete for their excellent flute performance and collaboration. We warmly congratulate everyone involved and wish the choir’s leaders and all its enthusiastic members continued success and many rewarding musical experiences, recalling the words of Zoltán Kodály: ‘Music is spiritual nourishment and cannot be replaced by anything else.’
